The purpose of this site is to help those seeking alternative treatment--using nutrition and supplements, and it is to help those who would like guidance in maintaining their general well-being. Do you have acne, PMS (premenstrual syndrome), PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), depression, psoriasis, rosacea, adrenal fatigue, chronic fatigue, etc. ? There is help! If you are prepared to make changes in your nutritional habits, you are on the right track. But if you are unwilling to make nutritional changes, there are supplements you could use.
Do you think that it's genetic for you, and therefore you are doomed and helpless? Well, rethink your view. This article on Time Magazine about epigenetics might help you see that hope isn't lost. Having faith in yourself is part of the process.
The Anatomy of Products
Ever tallied the cost of over-the-counter drugs or products? You may have, say, acne and have seen the convincing testimonials of Accutane or Proactiv users. You try it and it works for you, or maybe to your disappointment it does not work for you. Here's the anatomy of these sort of drugs:
Accutane, for example, contains isotretinoin, which is a synthetic active form of vitamin A. One person who's suffering from vitamin A deficiency or insufficiency and is unaware of it takes Accutane. He/she sees amazing results.
Another person tries Accutane but does not see satisfactory or any results.
What is Wrong with this Picture?
There is a difference in each person's experience because each person's nutritional requirements are different. Not all acnes have the same underlying cause(s) (for example, vitamin A deficiency in the first person).
There is yet another possible scenario: someone with vitamin A deficiency may not see results still. Why is that? It's simple: There's a chain reaction due to another missing element in the person's foods, which affects the function of vitamin A.
If the problem is vitamin A, why use Accutane with the high risk of adverse effects due to a high dose when you can build your body's store of vitamin A gradually and circumvent the side effects whilst enjoying other benefits?
If the problem is vitamin A but due to another underlying issue, why not treat the underlying cause and save yourself the signs and symptoms that you are unknowingly visiting your doctor for and that Accutane cannot cure?
And if the cause is not vitamin A deficiency or insufficiency, why spend so much trying different drugs (some such as the birth control pill Yaz causing terrible long-term side effects) or products, or going to doctors for other signs or symptoms that may be connected to the acne?
The point of this demonstration is to give an idea of the simplicity yet complexity of your health, and it is to help you understand the degree to which you have control of your health.
